Orange County is known for many things, one of which is its performing arts scene. While there are more than a handful of great Anaheim theatres, three that stand out from the pack are these local favorites - Chance Theater, Stage Door Repertory Theater and One More Productions.
One of the leading ensemble-driven theatre companies in Southern California, Chance Theater is known for its bold and personal storytelling. A constituent member of Theatre Communications Group, OC Theatre Guild, and LA Stage Alliance, Chance has won six Ovation Awards. Upcoming shows include “Skylight” (April 19-May 19), a Tony & Olivier Award Winner, “Tigers Be Still” (May 3-June 2), a regional premiere, and “Ragtime” (June 28-July 28), a Tony & Drama Desk Award-Winning Musical.
A small, but very popular local theater, Stage Door returns for its eighth season with a variety of laughs, tears, mystery, comedy and drama. This season’s offerings include a collection of familiar and brand new titles, including “Cabaret” (March 2-23), “The 39 Steps” (April 6-27), “Nunsense” (May 10-26) and “Jesus Christ Superstar” (June 8-29).
One More Productions returns for its 15th year at the historic GEM Theater, which started as a vaudeville house in the 1920s, served as a single-screen neighborhood movie theater in the 1930s, then transitioned to a live theatrical performance venue in 1979. One More Productions produces full-scale musicals, wonderful plays, staged readings, and original works. Upcoming performances include “Disaster! The Musical” (March 21-24), “Nine” (April 25-May 19) and “West Side Story” (July 11-August 11).
