The festival opens on Friday evening and features a parade on Saturday, as well as tons of rides, contests, celebrities, vendors and, of course, strawberries! There is even a ceremonial cutting of the world’s largest strawberry shortcake, which is served to more than 2,000 festival goers! The annual whale watching event in CA is a long-standing tradition in Dana Point, drawing whale watchers to Headland Conservation Park to observe the 5000-mile migration of the California Grey Whale. This migration, beginning in December, passes through Dana Point in March. During this “peak season” observers can see as many as 50 whales daily. The whales use the Dana Point Headland harbor-side cliffs as a guide.

Visit Headlands Conservation Park for a glimpse of these majestic creatures as they journey south. New Family Attractions Set to Debut at Knott’s Berry Farm Amusement Park in 2013!

Knott’s Berry Farm Amusement Park, a staple attraction in Orange County for more than 60 years, has announced plans to debut three new family attractions in the summer of 2013. The Coast Rider, Surfside Glider and Pacific Scrambler will become a part of The Boardwalk area and offer fun for visitors of every age.

Coast Rider
This new family roller coaster will provide thrills for all ages as it charges down more than 1,300 feet of track and up the 52-foot ascent to the top of the ride.

Surfside Glider
Riders will get to pilot their own glider, ascending to a bird’s eye view of The Boardwalk.

Pacific Scrambler
A mainstay at boardwalks near and far, this spin ride is a must-see.
